Lisa Hufford Photography is a Chicago wedding photographer with a modern and editorial style. We can't wait to connect with you!
As a Chicago wedding photographer, I love getting to meet and photograph Chicago native couples. Julia and Mike both went to college in Iowa but didn’t meet until after college. They happened to meet at a local Lincoln Park Bar randomly, and from there, the journey of the rest of their lives began. Julia and Mike got engaged last March when Mike proposed at the top of Camelback Mountain in Arizona. She happily said yes at 2,704 feet up!
Julia and Mike began planning their 200+ guest downtown Chicago wedding. Unfortunately, because of Covid-19, they had to downsize their wedding plans but knew they still needed to tie the knot officially in 2020. Next year they will celebrate with their larger guest list, but for now, they chose to have a beautiful and intimate wedding with classic downtown Chicago vibes.
We took their wedding photos at the historic Rookery Building, which matched their aesthetic perfectly. The pictures we took on the Oriel Staircase were just stunning! After that, we took photos on LaSalle Street to add to the classic downtown Chicago wedding vibe. Julia and Mike were married at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Chicago. It’s beautiful cathedral ceilings and divine imagery set the stage for their ceremony. Most importantly, getting married here was special to Mike, whose family has been a member of this church for years.
Julia planned an intimate reception at The Dawson in Chicago’s River West neighborhood. The reception tables featured romantic candles and florals galore: beautiful handwritten signage and a signature cocktail for the night. One of the most special items was a handmade map of Chicago that Julia’s brother made for her as a guest book. Such lovely details made the night so memorable!
Julia and Mike, it was such an honor to photograph your engagement and wedding! I had the best time getting to know both of you during your wedding planning! You both were so kind and an absolute joy to work with. Plus you have the most impeccable style! It truly was an honor! I cannot wait to photograph your reception next year!
